Day 1 – Airport or train station pick up. Overnight in guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar. Upgrades available.

Day 2 – Drive to Terelj National park. Horse trek to meet your dogsled team and mushers to start your dog sledding expedition. The morning will allow you to get used to the sledge, on an easy path, till you are used to your team. You’ll learn the ropes, and by the end of the day you will feel like a pro. Sled till the evening, when we will stay overnight in a ger next to a local herder and his family. Experience the life of Mongolian Nomads and learn to make traditional meal such as Buuz (steamed dumplings).

Day 3 – A full day of dog sledding today, with a stop for lunch. You will speed along the Terelj River, passing through the valleys and forest. At the end of the afternoon you come back to the edge of civilization to a family’s settlement for a warm cup of tea and Mongolian dinner.  You can learn more about the nomadic way of life with your host family. Sharing this time together in the family ger is an unforgettable experience. You will discover a different world, a different culture combining ancient and modern habits in harmony, and a different notion of time. Overnight in a ger next to family.

Day 4 – In the morning help to harness the dogs and prepare to leave. Today you will travel along the Tuul river. The team will run on the ice without any fear, sniffing here and there for wolf or fox tracks. It will give us the opportunity to look at tracks in the snow, perhaps from wolves, foxes or rabbits that have crossed the frozen river. Continue along the trail before arriving at the next host family just in time for dinner. Say goodbye to your trusty dogs, as tonight they will be heading back home to their cozy kennel. Stay overnight in a ger next to nomadic family.

Day 5 – This morning stretch your legs and climb up to a great vantage point to see the river stretched out before you. Meet your horses and mount up for a half day horse trek along the frozen river and across the mountains. In the afternoon you can visit the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue located over a beautiful river valley where a local legend says Chinggis Khan fortuitously found a golden horse whip. Tonight you will stay in a ger camp, with western facilities. Enjoy a tasty fusion dinner before relaxing in the bar. Overnight in twin ger or room. (single supplement available).
